Ceylon Tea Trails

At 5,000ft above sea level in the beautiful tea growing region of Dickoya in central Sri Lanka, four luxury bungalows, all within 15km of each other and the Castlereagh Reservoir, offer complete peace and tranquility.

Originally built for British tea estate managers in the days of the Raj, the four bungalows, each in its own spectacular location, provide a total of twenty luxurious suites, butler service and fine cuisine. Choose between staying at just one bungalow or spend one or two nights at each of the four.

Watch the tea-pluckers in their colourful saris, visit the nearby tea factory to learn about the tea production process, discover the skill involved in tea tasting, - a unique opportunity to experience life on a working tea plantation.

Adams Peak, just 45 minutes away, requires an early start to experience the spectacular sunrise from the summit.

Catch an early morning train (an experience in itself) to discover Horton Plains and Worlds End and then trek back to your bungalow.

Golfers can enjoy a game at either Nuwara Eliya or Victoria near Kandy. Other activities include birdwatching, trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, white water rafting and rowing on the lake.

This century-old bungalow set in landscaped gardens offers unrivalled views over the lake. Elegant parquet floors with open fireplaces in the dining and drawing rooms and extensive gardens which include summerhouses where tea is served and a croquet lawn. The spacious suites, some with four-poster beds have imposing colonial style furniture. This bungalow is in the centre of the Norwood estate and has easy access to the nearby tea factory and its fields. Norwood has a master suite, two garden suites and three luxury rooms.

Summerville
High above the reservoir lake at the edge of a tea plantation, Summerville bungalow has magnificent views of the lake and tea planted hills in the distance. Some suites open to private gardens. The entire bungalow, consisting of a master suite, two garden suites and one luxury room can be booked for a group.

Tientsin
This spacious bungalow was one of the first to be built in Ceylon tea country. Named after the Chinese village from which the original tea seedlings came, this very British residence is a historical landmark. Six luxurious rooms and suites open onto magnificent English gardens. Each suite retains its original features of polished wooden floors, high ceilings and colonial furniture - some have large four-poster beds. A clay tennis court is provided for Tientsin guests but may also be used by guests from the other bungalows.
